PASSAGE

PASSAGE was written and shot late 2019 just before Corona crisis started. The subject of the movie deals with fear on different layers. Our approach is to visualize our deepest emotions when we are confronted with a situation where everything is out of control. How do we behave? Whom do we trust? The context of PASSAGE changed drastically. The movie became more like a metaphor of our actual time where fear spreads all over the world and where all of us have to deal with existential questions.
The movie was shot on location deep in the german woods, on a military training ground and in an abandoned village. With a small team and a small budget we tried to generate a universal setting that takes our characters in a world that could take place everywhere in the wilderness of the world. We wanted to achieve a consistent natural environment that could stand as metaphor for a world where human beings are on the run, escaping from a terrifying situation and confronted with their innermost fears. Our approach was to visualise those fears and create sceneries that should transform emotions into moving pictures.

PASSAGE is an athmospherical statement about fear, trust and solidarity.

ANDERSWO – ALLEIN IN AFRIKA

The documentary ANDERSWO – ALLEIN IN AFRIKA is the story about ANSELM NATHANAEL PAHNKE who got separated from his traveling companions and suddenly had to decide whether to head back home or to cross the Kalahari desert on his own .. on a bike.

It took him 414 days, 15.000 kilometer and 15 countries to cycle the African continent. While doing so he filmed himself and all his encounters. His impressions are now composed into this beautiful documentary.

Harvest is proud to have been part of this project and took care of the color grading, sounddesign, mix and deliveries.

Grain of Hope – Angel Leon’s Discovery

The film “Grain of Hope” tells the journey of @Angel_Leon_aponiente quest to harvest rice from the sea. A story just recently published in TIME Magazine (cutt.ly/rjmWxM5). The short film is a look inside the creative mind of Angel León, the Michelin Starred Chef, also known as Chef of the Sea. It narrates his personal journey and biggest discovery, one that transcends his restaurant and could change the way we will feed ourselves in the future. The marine grain is capable of delivering immense nutritional and ecological benefits, making it the first “superfood” from the ocean. But not only that, in addition, these crops contribute to carbon drawdowns, and as such, to the mitigation of harmful substances that are causing climate change. This amazing breakthrough can help us both, fighting world hunger and climate change. Two of humanity’s biggest challenges.

Wechselzeiten

Monsieur Oyster

Joel Dupuch is not only one of the most famous oyster farmers of our times but also a renowned actor playing alongside talented artists like actress Marion Cotillard. In 2006, he took his first steps into the world of cinema thanks to the movie entitled “Tell No One” produced by Luc Besson. In 2010, Joel Dupuch made a noticeable and touching appearance in the French comedy-drama “Little White Lies”, directed by Guillaume Canet.

Today, after performances in successful movies and television series and succumbing to the temptation of becoming an actor loved by the audience, he divides his life between his restaurant in Bordeaux and his oyster farm in Lège-Cap Ferret.

Through the portrait of Joel Dupuch, an Epicurean strongly attached to the products’ value, we are proud to officially launch our series of episodes about the alliance between the ocean and the comestible art.

Les Enfants Terribles

In a village in the south-east of Turkey, Mahmut wants to divorce his wife, whom he married only recently. At the same time, his sister Zeynep enrols in high school and takes on a job in a factory. Against her father’s wishes, she wants to leave the village and ultimately go to university. The siblings’ demands become the centre of a conflict in their conservative family and community, who are not used to what Mahmut and Zeynep are striving for. Said conflict is intimately captured by their elder brother Ahmet Necdet Cupur, who left the village 20 years ago to pursue his studies, in Les Enfants Terribles, which is set to world-premiere in the international feature competition of this year’s Visions du Réel and promises to be “a story of clashes between generations, and between the past and the present”.

Into the North

The film “Into the North” is a project commissioned by Oceana the world’s biggest organization dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans.

We joined Oceana and its team of marine biologists on its first North Sea expedition. On board of the Neptune, we soon learned that the North Sea isn’t any longer the paradise for whales, plankton and seabirds it used to be.

“Into the North” is a visual ode to the North Sea, the men and women working under extreme conditions to study and protect our oceans, but most importantly, it’s about the very cause that is turning our seas into deserts: overfishing.

Pygmalion

With great anticipation Harald eagerly awaits the wedding of his only daughter. His biggest problem is his belief, that his deceased wife lives on in a store mannequin, which he wants to take along to the wedding celebration.

PASSAGE is an athmospherical statement about fear, trust and solidarity.

Remember the Fish

Global fish stocks are exploited or depleted to such an extent that without urgent measures we may be the last generation to catch food from the oceans. To start turning the tide, fishing quotas advised by scientists need to be respected. Strengthening and expanding protected marine reserves would also go a long way to conserving species. Currently, less than 1% of the ocean is protected, although by 2020, the international community has agreed to raise this to 10%. It is our duty to hold our politicians accountable.
